Pendulous-Flowered Helleborine (Epipactis phyllanthes) is similar in general appearance to the much commoner Broad-Leaved Helleborine, but is more slender and the flowers hang vertically. The flowers are always self-pollinated and may not open fully.
This species is very rare in Northern Ireland being reported from only three woodland sites.
